Fox Hunting / Mahia

Peter has a fox hunting / directional finding transmitter control kit he obtained from overseas and built up. This allows remote control of the transmitter thus allowing, amongst other controls, the reduction or increase of transmission times as required during the hunt
He has interfaced it to a Icom portable 2 meter rig to operate as a fox / hidden transmitter. When the weather is better the plan is to have this hidden somewhere in Gisborne in a public place for club members to have a fox hunt on 2 meters. No definite plans on the actual frequency at present but several club members are keen and are looking up or building suitable equipment. Note the fox is a hidden low powered transmitter and no animals are involved in spite of the name
There are now believed to be fifteen financial members of the club. Hopefully the letter sent out by the treasurer will result in more additional members. The secretary has applied for and obtained the call sign ZL2LEC for the Mahia trip. It lasts for four months and is the same as when the club went to East Cape but now the EC stands for East Coast.
