CLUB ACTIVITES

The visit to the Fire Station to see the new Command Vehicle was well attended in spite of the weather. The new vehicle is most impressive with what appears to be every possible form of communication and everything else that could be needed. Generators, masts, satellite dish, internet displays all well interconnected are only some of the facilities.  A bonus was the additional display of some of the equipment now used in fire fighting etc. Also very impressive. Thanks must go to the secretary for arranging the visit and the members of the Fire Service for their time and efforts to make the visit so impressive and informative
Several members have been to Mahia to check on the possible club station for the lighthouse activity. From all accounts a good day was had by all and every thing looks good for a enjoyable  club activity including location and facilities. Contact was was also made with other amateurs in the area. Plans are for a special call sign and an impressive pictorial QSL card.
With more club members in areas south of Gisborne the repeaters are getting more use and use of IRLP around 7.30pm on Sunday allows members from out of Gisborne to take part on the club net on 680.
