Hi,

  • I'm a keen cw operator on 20 /40 / 80 m and tinkerer in all things radio / electronics.
  • I have done a few things , and been a few interesting places in my life to date. eg. as a boy of twelve , I lived on a lighthouse station, (Stephens Island ), at the top end of the Cook Strait; ( had to do the daily marine wx forecasts to ZLW coast station in Wgtn on AM phone in those days ).

I also did correspondence for my schooling which was really neat, because I fished , explored and played with my pet Tuataras, Skinks and Gheckos (lizzards), whenever I did not feel like doing school. How cool is that ?

Became a professional deer culler for 7 years ( NZFS, not DOC,) - hunted from Fiordland to the Kaimanawas over the years - yes Barry Crump era.

Got married, had kids (3), responsibilities , so went back to school to get my PMG Marine Radio/Officer ticket, went deep sea for a time , came ashore, went back to radio school again . Gained employment installing and servicing marine radios /radar etc. aboard ships , both local and foreign going, and other related work , mainly so I could feed my hungry kids, who rewarded me by growing up to be beautiful and talented .

  • Lost my front teeth playing rugby on the wing, hence my charming smile!! . ( mouthguards were ' sissy ' in those days.) Ended up in Gizzie working as an Electrician, but now a full time father to a wonderful son Bryn.
    • Joined branch 11 for the second time , so here I am. 73, Ciao.
